What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and how do I use it?
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an optional layer of security to provide additional protection to your NCCTRC eLearning account.
While 2FA is optional, it is strongly recommended to use.
To activate 2FA:
-
After logging into NCCTRC eLearning and arriving to the 'Start' page, hover your mouse over the 'My Profile' tab in the top-right hand corner, then click or tap 'Account' in the dropdown menu.
- You will now be on the 'My Account' page and you should see a 'Manage 2FA settings' link under 'Account Security'. Click this link.
- The '2FA manage page' will appear. Where it says 'MOBILE APP AUTHENTICATOR', click on the 'Set up' link beside it.
- A screen with instructions will appear. You will need to download an authenticator app on your smart phone, such as Google Authenticator, which is available at no cost, and install it onto your phone.
- Once you have downloaded and installed the Google Authenticator app onto your phone, you can use your phone's camera to scan the QR code on screen, which will allow you to open the Google Authenticator app.
- In the Google Authenticator app, you will see a six digit code, which you can type on your computer via the 2FA instructions page. You will have 30 seconds to use this code.
- After entering the code, you will proceed automatically to a 'Mobile app setup completed' page, which will have a 16-digit backup code on screen. Please take a photo, screenshot and/or write down the code as reference.
2FA will now be activated in your NCCTRC eLearning account. You may receive an e-mail from NCCTRC eLearning asking you to verify your e-mail. If you receive this, click the provided link to verify your e-mail.
The next time you log into NCCTRC eLearning, you will be prompted with a 2FA option. Select the mobile phone app option, then using your phone, open the Google Authenticator app and you should see a six digit code on your phone. Type that six digit code from your phone onto the web page that you're on to log into NCCTRC eLearning.
Please visit the Contact and Support page if you have concerns, questions and/or need assistance with arranging 2FA with your NCCTRC eLearning account.
How do I enrol into a course?
NCCTRC eLearning has two types of courses, public and private.
-
Public: A public course can be accessed by anyone registered to NCCTRC eLearning
-
Private: A private course can only be accessed by approved and specifically selected users of NCCTRC eLearning, if you are approved to undertake such course(s) then an NCCTRC eLearning administrator will enrol you into the course(s)
To enrol into a public course:
-
After logging into NCCTRC eLearning and arriving onto the 'Start' page, click or tap the 'Courses' button at the top of the page.
- On the 'Courses' page, you will see courses that are publicly available to enrol into. You should see a green 'Enrol' button under any available course(s), click or tap this button to enrol and launch the course.
I have completed a course but cannot download my Certificate of Completion
Courses in NCCTRC eLearning allow enrolled participants to go through the content of the course at their own pace. It is possible that participants may have accidentally skipped content.
When visiting a page, you must remain on that page for several seconds for the NCCTRC eLearning system to recognise that you have 'completed' the page.
In the example image above, there are tick icons under each of the page names in the left-hand panel (e.g., Acknowledgement of Country, Navigating NCCTRC eLearning etc). This means that the system has recognised that the participant has 'completed' that page.

Click or tap the image above to zoom-in.
All pages for every course must be 'completed' in order for the participant to be eligible to finish the course and download their Certificate of Completion.
